In late summer of 1943, when Italy ended its alliance with Germany and joined the Allies after suffering catastrophic military losses, an Italian Resistance was born. As much as we hear about heroic men, the women of the Italian resistance also fought valiantly, and in many cases, their lives were taken because of that sacrifice. This documentary examines the role played by Italian women resistance fighters working alongside Canadian troops, how they contributed to the defeat of Nazi oppression during World War II, and how they influenced a generation of Italian Canadian women.

Le Donne della Resistenza
A touching documentary on the vital and underappreciated role that women played in the Italian Resistance.
