The malocchio translates to mal=bad and occhio=eye or otherwise referred to in English as the evil eye. According to Italian folklore, those who are envious will give the malocchio to others, causing them varying degrees of harm that can be as simple as a headache to effects much more menacing. This special documentary project told through the personal life experiences of its writer and director, Anthony Sarracco, will explore the ongoing fear and fascination with this centuries-old superstition. This documentary confronts a subject matter that will resonate well with Italian-Canadians, as many viewers undoubtedly will have their own stories to share on this secretive topic that has been mainly kept behind closed doors up until now.
